Frankincense in Myrrh

Two tree resins that, when burned, give off a solemn, but uplifting scent that draws our minds and hearts towards God.  They were two of the gifts brought to our Lord as a child, and they are gifts that we can still use in our worship and prayer lives today.  In the Eastern Orthodox Church Frankincense is used during every service to show honor to Christ and his Mother, the Theotokos, as well as all the saints of the church.
It is also a reminder of our prayers being lifted to God.
"Let my prayer be set forth as incense before thee; The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice." Psalm 141: 2

It comes in crystals right out of the tree, or in powdered scent variations.
They are both produced by different trees as a reaction to a purposeful wound through the bark and into the sapwood...anyway, they both have a unique, uplifting earthy scent. The essential oils don't have the same sweetness to them as the raw crystals, so if you want to experience these ancient scents, I would recommend the burning crystals as a first experience...better yet, attend an orthodox parish in your area.

Heavenly sweet.
